Netherlands - Gouda, today's beautiful saturday morning

I have been living just outside this historic city for almost 7 years now, and I never visit as if i am a tourist in my new home town... I would never have forgiven myself if I had not grabbed that chance now.

sunny 24 °C

Saturday morning is market day in Gouda, and it is my weekly ritual to get my fresh food there.

I woke up early, and the sun was out, the sky was blue and the light was perfect. The tourism season is just starting, and it was not overcrowded at all. Certainly not early in the morning.

To be honest regarding the people that did vist: I like the type of tourists visiting here in the early or late season. They are not the hype-types, and they give the inner city exactly the vibe it needs. They spend time, they are interested and talkative, they take it easy with a coffee and fill the terraces on the market square. They are good for local business too.

I am not going to write a lot here. You can read Gouda information in the Gouda destination page, and if you have any questions, maybe I can help answering these too.

Instead you will find quite a lot of pictures, and they are a mix of the following. I have added them at random, with descriptions, to make it a mix:

  • old town impressions
  • the St. John's church with its world famous stained windows (finally the light was perfect!)
  • the famous market square
